Happy new year to everybody from  Zabov!!!

Holyday's over, time to get back to work. We started recording again voices of the new cd, and step by step we're reaching some good results. Simoultaneously, we began talking about mixing the whole stuff. We asked the well known sound engineer Roberto Priori to rough-mix one of the new songs, and he did a great job... we'll get in touch here for updates...

Many things happened during these months I didn't keep you up to date. We've been working hard and at last the new recording studio is ready! Yes... I didn't mention, but me and Francesco with Luca's support we turned the old rehearsal site into a professional recording studio. We want to record there our material and we'll supply our service to friends that need to record in a professional way. It's in this new structure we're recording the vocals. Three songs are now complete and we hope to finish the job so we can soon mix the whole stuff.

We lack three songs: We still have to record bass and guitar tracks in the last three songs, then we can point at vocals.

By the way, I am building a new, powerful recording stuff that will be tested with Zabov vocals. (Soon more details).

I decided to go back and re-record some keyboards tracks (the pianos) because i have pretty good new sounds. The GEM's digital piano is much better than the one i used in previous recording. This will not affect the overall schedule of the project, because it's a parallel activity.

- since 2000 up to end 2004 (what happened)

We decided to insert this page because the making of this new lp are going very slow. We want to tell what's happening and I'll try to trace briefly how things went, then keep you up to date day by day about the status of the project. In order to do this, I took out my ikd diaries, as the things I am gonna tell started so long ago...

- The first recording. It was september 2000 when we decided to go to a studio to record this stuff. I moved from Bologna to Milan at the end of 1998, and we kept up having sessions on saturdays writing new material and re-arranging some old songs after Max's rejoin.We thought that it would be better to make a cd of it. In a holiday period we practiced a lot in order to go to the Scandellara studios in Bologna (Pecos) and record drum tracks on a couple of ADAT, together with the guide tracks of keyboards, bass and guitar. In a couple of afternoons the tapes were ready and jealously kept until we decided how to use them.

- Strange months. After that, some time only full of scenarios followed. I wanted to buy a dedicated recording station, but Max and Luca convinced me to chosse the hard disk recording way (I still thank them). So, in may 2001 Luca transferred the tapes content to several cd's for me and Max so that we could record our parts at home. To do this I used my company's laptop (please don't tell them, it's against policy) because i didn't own a pc. I recorded in my Milano's house in the evening or during the weekends. Best parts came out when I was playing naked and drunk in summer days. At the and of 2001 keyboards tracks were about to be finished. Me and Betty wrote and recorded a song (The Deed Is Done) that I want to be part of the cd.

- Year 2002.  2002 is a very troubled year for this recording. Nothing particular happens, we continue sessions without having a real scope. We come in the studio just to have fun. The level of alcool I take during the sessions raises every time. We never talk about the status of our work, and we aren't practicing enough to think about concerts. I still have to record voices, but I am not sure I am able to do it at home (no good microphones and professional outboard).

- Back to  Bologna. In 2003 I left Milan to Bologna. I did it to study and get an MBA Master. The sessions become more continuous, but.... bass and guitar tracks didn't really improve since 2001.

- Franz's joint. In the same period, Franz joined us as a new solist singer. This means we have to change our programs, because the priority is that he have to learn the new record's songs. It lasted some month, then we recorded his vocals at home. We weren't really worried about guitar and bass songs, because we were writing new songs and playing live.

- September 2003: a hard wakeup. It wasn't possible to posticipate the bass and guitar matter. We decide to listen together to the parts and ... unfortunately we discover that quality is not what we wanted. So we stopped any other band activity in order to record these two instruments. We all join twice per week and record. In a couple of sessions we finish a track, so consider this for two instruments and 14 songs... and you'll have an idea of the requested time.
